MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS

Safety Measure:
While dealing with chemicals like acids & organic solvents, following safety measure should be taken in account.

1- First Aid Measure:
Inhalation:
Chemical should deal in well ventilated fume hood, to avoid inhalation, in case of accidental inhalation of vapors, move to fresh air. In case of shortness of breath oxygen should be given. If exposure is great medical supervision should be obtained.

Skin Contact:
In case of skin contact contaminated clothing should be remove in affected area should be washed with plenty of water, otherwise medical attention should be obtained immediately.

Eye Contact:
In this situation eye should be rinsed with large amount of water for at least 30mins with eyelid held wide open. Medical attention should be obtained immediately.

Ingestion:
Victim should make to drink plenty of water (if necessary several liters) just to wash stomach. Do not attempt to neutralize.


2- Fire Fighting Measures:
Suitable fire extinguishers should be stored in the immediate neighborhood. Any one should not stay there in dangerous zone without suitable chemical protection clothing & self contained breathing apparatus.

3- Personal Protection Equipments:

Respiratory Protection:
To avoid the inhalation suitable respiratory equipments i.e. masks should be used.

Hand Protection:
Rubber or Plastic gloves should be used.

Eye Protection:
Goggles should be used so that to give complete protection to eye.

Skin & Body Protection:
Protective coats should be used specifically for the working places depending on concentration & quantity of the hazardous substances.

4- Accidental Release Measure:
Spillage:
Soda ash should be spread over the spillage, if local regulations permit, mop up cautiously with plenty of water& run to waste, diluting greatly with running water, otherwise transfer to container & arrange removal by the disposal company. Spillage should not allow entering sewerage system.

5- Storage Information:
Tightly closed & dry glass containers should be used keep in a well ventilated place.

6- Stability Information:
Stable & normal conditions, avoid heating.


7- Ecological Information:
It is toxic for aquatic organisms, its toxic effect is due to pH shift, and so it should not allow entering water, wastewater or soil.
Harmful effects begin at plants: 6mg/Liter
Lethal for fish as from 25mg/Liter
