RESIN COMBINATIONS

Resin Combinations:-

Resin occurs in combination with other chemical substances.

Oleoresins:-

These are more or less homogenous mixtures of Resins and Volatile Oils e.g. Ginger, Capsicum, Turpentine.

Gem – Resins:-

These are the homogenous mixtures of gums and Resins e.g. Asafoetida, Myrrh.

Glycoresins:-

These are glycosidal combinations of resins. They yield sugar and complex resin acids upon hydrolysis e.g. Jalap, Podophyllum, Ipomea, Cannabis.

Balsams:-

These are resinous mixtures which contain Cinnamic Acid, Benzoic Acid or both or esters of these acids e.g. Benzoin, Peru Balsam, Tow Balsam, and Styrax.
