FUNCTIONS OF PROVINCIAL PHARMACY COUNCIL


q To prepare and maintain registers of pharmacists and apprentices in pharmacy.

q To register pharmacists and issue certificate of registration.

q To conduct examinations for the purposed registration as pharmacist.

PROVINCIAL DRUG ANALYSTS:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Provincial government analyst shall be a person:

v Having a degree in pharmacy from a Pakistani university or any other institution recognized for this purpose by the pharmacy council of Pakistan and has at least three-year experience in the manufacture, testing or analysis of drugs. The conditions of experience may be relaxed provided that if a person of requisite qualification is not available.

v Having a degree in medicine or master degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Microbiology or Pharmacology.

DUTIES OF PROVINCIAL DRUG ANALYSTS:

  1. He/she will analyze or test such samples of drugs as may be sent to him/her under the act.
  2. He/she will test and analyze such samples as may be sent to him/her in writing from a Government Department or may other public institution and will furnish the report of result of the test or analysis to the Government or public institution concerned.
  3. The Provincial Government Drug analyst will forward monthly report giving results of sample tested and analyzed during the period.

PROCEDURE FOR DRUG ANALYSIS:

On receipt of a package from Provincial Inspector containing a sample for test and analysis, the Provincial Government Analyst will compare the seals on the packet with the specimen impression received and will note the condition of the seal on the package and after the test or analysis has been completed, he will supply the reports of the result of the test or analysis to the Provincial Inspectors.
