HOW TO FORMULATE A PHARMACEUTICAL IBUPROFEN SUSPENSION

SOAKING OF SUSPENDING GUM:

Put a neat and clean S.S. container under the stirrer.
Add 75 litres deionized water in it.
Add Sodium Benzoate or a combination of methyl and propyl paraben sodium as preservative. (Continuous Mixing)
Add Carboxy Methyl Cellulose Sodium or Xanthan Gum slowly. (Continuous Mixing)

SOAKING OF ACTIVE:


Put a neat and clean S.S. container under the stirrer.
Add 75 Litres of Glycerine into it.
Turn on the stirrer.
Add about half quantity of Polysorbate Tween 60 into it.
Add slowly about half quantity of Active (IBUPROFEN) into it.
When a homogeneous mixture is obtained, turn off the stirrer and remove container from it.
Put another neat and clean S.S. container under the stirrer.
Add 75 Litres of Glycerine into it.
Add remaining half quantity of Polysorbate Tween 60 and active (IBUPROFEN) into it.
Turn off the stirrer and remove container from it.

FINAL MIXING:

Shift Sugar Base to Silverson.
Turn on the Silverson.
Add Soaked Xanthan Gum into Silverson.
Add Soaked Active into it.
Dissolve Citric Acid in about 10 litres of Deionized Water and add into Silverson.
Dissolve Saccharin Sodium in about 5 litres of Deionized Water and add into Silverson.
Add Orange Flavour Cloudy into Silverson.
Add Sorbitol 70% Solution into Silverson.
Make up the volume with Deionized Water.
Mix the batch for one hour and raise sample to Quality Assurance.
