Communication is defined as the transfer of information from sender to the receiver with the information being understood by the receiver. The transfer of information from one individual to another is absolutely essential. Indeed group activity is impossible without communication because co-ordination and change cannot be affected.
PURPOSE OF COMMUNICATION: Communication is essential for internal functioning of enterprises because it integrates the managerial functions.
Communication is needed to:
§ Establish goals of an enterprise.
§ Develop plans for achieving goals.
§ Organize resources in effective manner.
§ Select, develop and up-raise members of organization.
§ Lead, direct, motivate and create a climate in which people want to contribute.
§ Control performance.
